Il Coro del Lunedi

The “Coro del Lunedì” was founded in 1979 by Cesare Pocci – current director – a dedicated amateur musician together and with a group of friends who shared the same love for the mountain and the songs of the popular tradition; the choir eventually specialized in this particular kind of music.

It has grown in number over the years, extending its repertory to polyphonic music both sacred and secular, and its activities include several tours in Italy and abroad, concerts in the most beautiful Roman churches and palaces, taking part in qualified choral festivals. In october 2005 the choir did a tour in the United States as part of events celebrating the Italian Colture Month as guest of the Italian Heritage located in New York.

The “Coro del Lunedì” has also recorded three CD’s , called “A spasso per l’Italia (Strolling through Italy)” with a book who will record the choir’s first twenty years and since 1991 organizes a biennial festival of popular choral music, the first in Rome, called “Tanto per Cantare (Just for the sake of singing)”, attended by many of the best Italian choirs.

The seat of “Il Coro del Lunedì” is the ancient Oratorio del Caravita, Via del Caravita in Rome
