The chorus of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, one of the world's largest choruses, has been led and formed by prominent conductors and chorus masters. Walter Hagen‐Groll led the chorus for nearly 50 years, establishing its excellent reputation. Marcus Creed and Karl Kamper were two of his successors as chorus master. William Spaulding has been the first chorus master since the beginning of the 2007/2008 season. The success of his work with the chorus is shown by the awards of 'Best German Chorus' in 2008 and 2009.
