Shanghai Quartet was formed in 1983. They won the 2nd prize at the Portsmouth International Quartet Competition in England. After that they studied in the US. They performed in the major music centers of Europe, North America and Asia, from the Beijing International Music Festival to Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.  Shanghai Quartet was formed in 1983.
