Takacs Quartet

Quartet

Recognized as one of the world's great ensembles, the Takács Quartet has become synonymous with compelling and homogenous interpretations. For their achievements and the numerous recordings for Decca and Hyperion the ensemble received several Gramophone Awards, a Grammy as well as three Japanese Record Academy Awards. In 2012 the Takács Quartet was induced into the Gramophone Hall of Fame.

The Quartet is known for innovative programming and performed »Everyman« with Academy Award–winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman at Carnegie Hall in 2007.

The Takács Quartet was founded in 1975 by Gabor Takács‐Nagy, Károly Schranz, Gabor Ormai and András Fejér at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest and was decorated with the Knight’s cross for extraordinary merits in the field of arts by the president of the Republic of Hungary.
