The Aris Quartet was founded in Frankfurt in 2009 and won the Audience Award at the ARD Competition in 2016. Works by Haydn, Janáček and Dvořák can be heard in this concert.

Haydn's 'Sunrise' Quartet stands out as one of the highest compositional achievements in his oeuvre as well as in the entire quartet literature and combines stylistic confidence with the joy of experimentation, wit and profundity. The next work also has a nickname. Leoš Janáček sets Lew Tolstoj's eponymous story to music as a quartet with his 'Kreutzer Sonata'. Dvořáks 13. String Quartet was written in the mid-1890s and was premiered by the Bohemian String Quartet, as later was Janáčeks 'Kreutzer-Sonate'.
