About the Event
Explore the beauty of piano music at Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, where masterworks from Bach come to life in this incredible performance.
Angela Hewitt, a great connoisseur of the legacy of Johann Sebastian Bach, returns to the Palau de la Musique de Catalana to give a master class on Bach's works. The Canadian pianist has won prizes in competitions all over the world, but it was the International Bach Piano Competition, held in Toronto in 1985 in honor of Glenn Gould, that paved the way for her international career.
Her concert repertoire includes a number of works from Book II of The Sound of Music. This collection of preludes and fugues encompasses all 24 keys of the piano, exploring the limits of the instrument and showing Bach at his most mathematical and rigorous, but also at his most creative and imaginative. This is a work in the grand Baroque style, perhaps one of the most inspiring works of music ever written.
- Bach, Johann Sebastian – The well‐tempered key. Second book (selection)
