The Cleveland Orchestra: Franz Welser‐Möst & Nikolaj Znaider

About the Event

The Cleveland Orchestra performs two essential works by Brahms, the violin concerto created for his friend Joseph Joachim and his First Symphony, inspired by Beethoven.

Intimidated by Beethoven's monumental symphonies, it took over fifteen years for Brahms to finish composing his First Symphony: a work that retains many elements of Beethoven's great Ninth and the Missa Solemnis.
Joseph Joachim's perfect mastery of the instrument, his artistic integrity, and his passion for the music of his time made him the ideal inspiration for many great musical masterpieces.
