Built to modernize prison conditions in the sixteenth century, the Palazzo delle Prigioni (Prisons' Palace) is now a center for cultural events. From the Palazzo Ducale, visitors cross the world‐famous Bridge of Sighs to access the Palazzo delle Prigioni, with its beautiful rooms overlooking Riva degli Schiavoni and onto San Marco.
