About the event
The Wiener Hofburg Orchester, consisting of about 40 professional musicians and internationally renowned soloists of the Vienna State Opera and Vienna Volksoper, plays in the breathtaking halls of the Vienna Imperial Palace (Wiener Hofburg). The Wiener Hofburg Orchester, founded 30 years ago by the musician and conductor Gert Hofbauer, presents concerts featuring famous and beloved compositions by the "King of Waltz" Johann Strauss and arias and duets from the operas of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
The two magnificent halls, the Festsaal and the Redoutensaal, of the Vienna Imperial Palace, provide the appropriately grand setting for concerts by the famous Wiener Hofburg Orchester. Formerly the winter residence of the Habsburgs, the Vienna Imperial Palace is unique among the great festive halls of Vienna. It was here that the Emperor held gala dinners and royal balls for his audiences. The Redoutensaal has a tradition that dates back over 300 years! No other concert hall in the world has witnessed so many historic performances by Mozart, Salieri, Beethoven, Paganini, the Strauss family and other notables. The Wiener Hofburg Orchester performs at the Palace from May through October.
