ABOUT THE EVENT

The programme "Peacetime Music – The Tales of Art Nouveau" will be presented at the Budapest Spring Festival 2012.

When in the 19th century two exceptional virtuosos, two artists of great stature joined forces to perform works that required gusto, contemporaries were likely to call such a production a Grand Duo, a term that Schubert, Weber or Chopin even used to denote the genre of an occasional piece. In this regard as well, the alliance of Vilmos Szabadi and Endre Hegedűs is a true Grand Duo. They have arranged a programme that represents the late blossoming of romanticism, with a rarely played piece by Dohnányi, and an early work by a young Bartók who was following in Dohnányi’s footsteps.
