About the event 'La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi'
Verdi's beloved opera La Traviata is presented in the intimate setting of St. Mark's Anglican Church by four singers in costume, accompanied by piano.
La Traviata, the story of "The Fallen One", based on the novel "La dame aux Camelias" by Alexandre Dumas, was first performed at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice on March 6, 1853. More recently, the story was the basis for the movies such as "Moulin Rouge" with Nicole Kidman.
An explanation and summary of the plot in English precedes each of the four acts.
Violetta Valery - Barbara Marcacci
Alfredo Germont - Tiziano Barbafiera
Giorgio Germont - Lisandro de Guinis
Flora / Annina – Eva Mabellini
Piano – Eugenio Milazzo
