Humperdinck's great opera after the most popular German tale by the Grimm brothers is back on stage at the Oper Leipzig.


Gretel tries to teach Hänsel to dance but their mother discovers them playing when she comes home. When she scolds them and in the ensuing scuffle, the milk is knocked over. Hansel's laughter is the last straw and she sends the children out into the wood to gather strawberries, ordering them not to come back till the basket is full. So Hansel and Gretel go into the woods but get lost on their way home. Eventually they end up at the evil witch's gingerbread house and with wit their adventures start to be free themselves and find their way back home...

Humperdinck's opera is a must go for the entire family around Christmas time!
