Gala Concert: Farewell to Michael

About the Event

The Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra performs popular works by Michael Jackson in its Gala Concert.

The symphonic poem “Farewell to Michael” based on the motifs of the repertoire of Michael Jackson was commissioned by the LSSO and Maestro Gintaras Rinkevičius in 2010 to pay tribute to the talented singer. His popular songs “Earth Song”, “Thriller”, “Beat It”, “Billie Jean”, “Black or White”, “Smooth Criminal”, “Will you be there” and others have found a different expression in the suite and impressively intertwine into a symphonic form. Gospels suit Jackson’s rock music very well, as though they were the kernel of the songs. The “Gospel Mass” written by Robert Ray in 1978 will make Christmas an even more festive holiday.
