After Le Nozze di Figaro and Cosi fan tutte, Philippe Jordan conducts Don Giovanni in the radical and captivating production by the Austrian filmmaker Michael Haneke.

Of the three operas written with Da Ponte, Don Giovanni is undoubtedly the darkest and most desperate. All the characters that turn around the seducer are breathless and beside themselves. And Mozart gave them his most lively music, the giddiest, the most extreme and also the most perfect. Pierre Jean Jouve described it in these terms: "In this inspired work, instinct is capable of such a hysteria, in the sacred sense of the word, of such a variety of drunken and empty behaviour, of supreme positive and absolute negative, that we must (we who share his penchants) rumble on, from sphere to sphere, like him, without rest. We are on an adventure through man's dark elements, never leaving the infinitely gilded framework of perfect beauty, elucidated and illuminated."
