Brecht & Dessau: Deutsches Miserere
ABOUT THE EVENT
The Oper Leipzig will present the staged performance of Bertolt Brecht and Paul Dessau's oratorio "Deutsches Miserere" for choir, soloists, orchestra, organ, and trautonium.
The "Deutsche Miserere" is among the most important oratorios of the 20th century. For its antifascist and pacifist statement, the work is often compared to Benjamin Britten's "War Requiem". In 1966, after Brecht and Dessau left their exile, the "Deutsche Miserere" was premiered in Leipzig under the baton of Herbert Kegel.
