About 'Gran Teatre del Liceu'

The Gran Teatre del Liceu is located on the famous Rambla promenade in Barcelona’s old city centre. With its 2,292 seats, the Liceu is one of the biggest opera houses in Europe. Built in 1847, the horseshoe-shaped theatre was inspired by Milan's Teatro alla Scala. After a fire in 1994, the theatre was rebuilt in a faithful reproduction of the 19th century theatre, with the addition of greatly improved technical, rehearsal, office and educational facilities, a new rehearsal hall, a new chamber opera and small performances hall, and much more public space.
