Leipzig is endowed with one of the richest classical musical histories of any single locale in the world. The residence of one of Germany’s most famous orchestras, the impressive Gewandhaus, is only one of the many revered halls and houses that calls Leipzig home; the Thomaskirche, where J. S. As if to overwhelm visitors with grandeur, the former homes of Leipzig residents Clara and Robert Schumann and Felix Mendelssohn are open to the public, as is, of course, the magnificent Oper Leipzig.
