OBC & Julian Rachlin: Gerhard, Berg & Mendelssohn

The Orquesta Sinfónica de Barcelona y Nacional de Catalunya, with violinist Julian Rachlin, will perform works by Gerhard, Berg, and Mendelssohn at the beautiful Auditori of Barcelona.

Robert Gerhard, direct disciple of Arnold Schönberg, was for a time a follower of the principles of the Second Vienna School, which was led by the Austrian composer and which promoted a profound renewal of Western musical language. This second concert in tribute to the musician from Valls presents his highly personal Third Symphony alongside the famous Violin Concerto by Alban Berg, performed by one of the leading violinists today, Julian Rachlin, a Lithuanian trained in Vienna and disciple, among others, of Pinchas Zukerman. To close the concert, all the expressive tenderness of Berg will give way to the light of Italy as interpreted by Mendelssohn.
