The casalQuartett and Marcelo Nisinman (bandoneon) present works of Piazzolla, Bach, and Gershwin.

When Astor Piazzolla recorded his Tango Sensations with the Kronos Quartet in New York, the American string musicians were left feeling bruised and beaten afterwards. Piazzolla, the master of tango nuevo, had literally sucked the musical energy right out of their veins.

This musical genius’s last cyclical work, which took the tango out of Argentina’s nightclubs and placed it in the spotlight of world music, will be played by young musicians from Switzerland, Germany, and Argentina in a set surrounded by the very music that influenced Piazzolla.
