Antti Siirala & Jazz

演出简介

The Finnish pianist Antti Siirala has made quite a name for himself; he is one of the leading Beethoven interpreters of our time. Here he is joined by a jazz combo, the Beethoven's Jazz Family. The focus in this extraordinary encounter is on Beethoven's superb Bagatelles. The (classical) pianist Pierre‐Laurent Aimard once said that making chamber music was an exercise in democracy. Well, in jazz that exercise is not just about opinions about the music; it is also about the music itself. The name that Beethoven gave to his Opus 126 — one of his last compositions for piano — is a particularly ironic one. In terms of duration, these Bagatelles may be miniatures; in terms of content, however, their range is vast. We can't wait to see how jazz musicians will handle them in real time.
