Revel in a program that blends the best of Romanticism with the best of Contemporary writing. John Adams' orchestration of Liszt's premonitory 'The Lugubrious Gondola' receives its Italian premiere, with the Accademia' s orchestra directed by American conductor Alan Gilbert.

Gibert's own arrangement of music from Wagner's 'The Ring of the Nibelungs' continues this theme of blended styles and traditions. Argentinean star cellist Sol Gabetta completes the program with Martinů's popular First Concerto.
