Justin Taylor (harpsichord) at Capella de Santa Àgata
演出简介
Justin Taylor is a new harpsichord phenomenon. At just 23, he has already won the prestigious International Harpsichord Competition in Bruges and also the Audience Prize and Alpha Prize for his album. Thanks to this last award, the Forqueray Family project was born, a story interwoven with jealousies and intrigue. The Forquerays were a family of French musicians in the 17th and 18th centuries. Antoine, a virtuoso on the viola da gamba, was considered one of the most gifted musicians of his time. His son Jean‐Baptiste, born in 1699, was a child prodigy who played for King Louis XIV. The relationship between father and son was marked by envy and resentment, passions that would lead Antoine to exile his son from France. Taylor shows us part of this tempestuous story in the concert he will offer as part of the Lights of Early Music Festival. The music of father and son, together with that of leading composers of their age such as Jacques Duphly and Jean‐Philippe Rameau, will take us on a journey through the most diverse emotions, from meditative gentleness to the most fiery tempestuousness.
