Premiered in 1987, John Adams' first opera, 'Nixon in China', paved the way for a new kind of drama. His subject: President Richard Nixon's 1972 visit to Communist China.
The opera contains romantic lyricism, melancholy, jazz, and even big band elements, sure to thrill and fascinate the audience at the Concertgebouw.
