Pianist Jean‐Philippe Collard plays famous and highly emotional works by Schumann and Chopin at the Salle Gaveau in Paris.

Schumann's poetic and poignant Arabesque in C major was written at a difficult time in his relationship with his beloved Clara, and is said to express his own longing. His famous Fantasy in C major is also considered as a heartrending cry for love and is one of the most famous pieces of romantic piano music. Equally poetic and moving, Chopin's Nocturne No. 1 and the famous third movement of his Piano Sonata No. 2, Marche funèbre, are also on the program of this evening.
