Liszt, Hungarian by heart if not by blood, was one of the first composers to take an interest in gypsy music, always seeking to give it its rightful place in the music of his time.

Ferenc Vizi – a pianist whose rather unique musical odyssey began with the accordion and the rich gypsy tradition of this instrument before switching to the piano – and the Cifra ensemble take the plunge into the csardas and other popular gypsy songs, written or improvised, that so profoundly marked the composition of Hungarian Rhapsodies.
