The name Ludwig Güttler goes hand in hand with the reconstruction of the Frauenkirche. Celebrated worldwide for his trumpet playing, the conductor was not only a spokesman for the citizens' initiative that started rebuilding this place of worship from the rubble of war, he also helped to initiate the far‐reaching call for donations that generated an international response for rebuilding this symbol of atonement.

Güttler founded Virtuosi Saxoniae back in 1985, which predominantly features musicians of the Staatskapelle Dresden.
