A concert of fireworks! Of course, that’s to be expected from the indefatigable Yutaka Sado… Chabrier’s España is breathtaking: a whirlwind of sound. Saint‐Saëns’ Fifth Piano Concerto, with its delicacy and sense of nostalgia, fits perfectly with the sensibility and special touch of Jean‐Yves Thibaudet.

The second soloist of the evening, harpist Xavier de Maistre, will premiere Penderecki’s #Harp Concerto#. The final revelation of the evening: the orchestral suite from Swan Lake, some of the best‐known music in the classical repertoire. Tchaikovsky’s was the first orchestra score composed specifically for a ballet and, in this case, provided a mirror for the composer’s forbidden loves…
