Pure Romantic: Mendelssohn, Beethoven & Berwald
演出简介
Journey through the first years of the Romantic era.
Mendelssohn enjoyed a brief flirtation with the young pianist Delphine von Schauroth, and dedicated his first piano concerto to her. Later on, he even disguised her as "the beautiful Melusine" in his overture of the same name.
Franz Berwald studied composition with Mendelssohn, but continued his career as a violinist — one of the few works performed today is the overture to his opera Estrella de Soria.
Beethoven's 2nd Symphony rounds off this introduction to the early Romantic, conducted by renowned interpreter Ivor Bolton.
