Ibrahim Maalouf: Kalthoum
演出简介
Tonight Ibrahim Maalouf pays homage to the famous Arab singer of the twentieth century, Umm Kalthoum.
Trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf combines three different worlds. After a classical education he turned to a career in jazz, performing jazz inspired by Arabic music. It's not surprising that he plays a trumpet with an extra valve which he can perform distinctive oriental quarter tones. Maalouf composes, teaches and plays all over the world with great success. He has won several major international music awards, including the prestigious UNESCO prize for "Young Artist for Intercultural Dialogue Between Arab and Western Worlds". Tonight this great trumpet player can be heard for the first time at the Concertgebouw.
