Erwin Schrott offers an interesting and creatively‐minded programme with Rojotango, featuring tangos by Astor Piazzolla and Pablo Ziegler, as well as folk songs from Argentina and Brazil. A singer with a dark, sensual tone, the Uruguay‐born Schrott made his debut as an operatic singer at the age of 28, and has enjoyed a stellar career whose highlights include appearances on the stages of La Scala, the Met, the Paris Opera National, the Wiener Staatsoper, Covent Garden and the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. This concert presents material from the eponymous CD, which garnered enthusiastic reviews and an ECHO Klassik Award.
