Eisenstadt is a city in Austria, the state capital of Burgenland. In the Habsburg monarchy, Eisenstadt/Kismarton was the seat of the Esterházy noble family. The composer Joseph Haydn lived there as Hofkapellmeister under Esterházy patronage.
