Carmen means freedom, passion, instinct. Carmen is a beautiful woman, a provocative gypsy with whom Don Josè, a corporal of the guard, falls madly in love. Dragged along by his love, he joins a gang of smugglers, failing in his duties as a soldier. Micaela, a childhood friend, tries to make Don Josè return in her footsteps, but Carmen begins to fall in love with another man and Don Josè goes mad.
The jealousy, the immense freedom of a woman without ties, the yearning to possess her will put an end to this relationship and its protagonist.
