Capriccio: Paris Opera

演出简介

Robert Carsen's staging of Richard Strauss' 'Capriccio' captures the essence of the composer's final work. It is an opera that rekindles the old conflict between music and words, which has haunted the genre since its very beginnings.

A composer and a poet vie for the favors of a countess… First performed in Munich on October 28th, 1942, Strauss’ last opera is a vibrant declaration of love to opera, a farewell cast out to a world of old, which is drawing to an end.

Performed in German, with English and French surtitles.
