In the appreciation of the audience and international critics, there are only two orchestras that could challenge each other for the top position: the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestras.

It is in the nature of things that in such a situation the difference between the two orchestras is always emphasized: the smooth elegance and nobility of the Viennese, the gripping, passionate playing of the Berliners, the silky string sound of one, the soloistic brilliance of the wind instruments of the other orchestra. Under such circumstances it does not seem exaggerated to celebrate the founding of the Kammerorchester Wien‐Berlin as a small sensation. Its ideal is to combine chamber music delicacy and symphonic greatness.
