Worlds of Sound

Sobre o Evento

A meeting between two musical father figures: Joseph Haydn and Anton Bruckner in a concert presented by the cellist Nicolas Altstaedt and the Tonkünstler‐Orchester under the baton of Jeffrey Tate.

What Haydn and Bruckner have in common is that although both of them received acknowledgement only late in life, it was all the more far‐reaching. However, the two composers differ considerably with regard to their views on art: while Haydn, an ingenious innovator, furnished his works with sparkling wit and a cheeky charm, Bruckner worked quietly and with untiring concentration on the development of his own tonal language. Both worlds of sound offer fascinating listening experiences: Jeffrey Tate, Nicolas Altstaedt and the Tonkünstler are well‐versed in both the elegiac lines of Bruckner’s 7th Symphony and the virtuoso lightness of Haydn’s Violoncello Concerto in D major.
