Szymanowski's Violin Concerto No. 1 is often considered one of the first 'modern' concertos for the way it discards traditional tonality and romantic aesthetic. Bruckner's Ninth Symphony was left unfinished at the time of his death. The composer dedicated the work 'to the beloved God'.
