Long and deservedly a firm fixture on music lovers’ calendars, this year’s Grafenegg summer festival builds on its already strong reputation with a stellar programme bound to go down a treat with discerning audiences. The season’s second concert sees the renowned Toronto Symphony Orchestra and clarinettist Jörg Widmann take to the stage with a programme featuring works by Rachmaninov and Weber.

Conducted by Peter Oundjian, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra supports Grafenegg’s Composer in Residence Jörg Widmann, a virtuoso clarinet soloist and talented interpreter of the canon’s great pieces for the instrument. The programme opens with Carl Maria von Weber’s Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra in F minor and continues after the intermission with Widmann’s own Elegy for Clarinet and Orchestra before finishing with Rachmaninov’s great romantic work, Symphonic Dances.
