The Golden Cockerel: Russian Seasons

Over het evenement

On the the initiative of star dancer and choreographer Andris Liepa, Russian Seasons of the 21st century brings Rimsky‐Korsakov's legendary work, The Golden Cockerel, to the Théâtre des Champs‐Elysées in Paris.

The premiere of “The Golden Cockerel” was presented to the world by a great Russian art promoter Sergei Diaghilev in 1914. The ballet scenes were staged by an outstanding innovator in choreography, Mikhail Fokin, while the set‐design was created by the gifted avant‐gardists Mikhail Larionov and Natalia Goncharova. A hundred years later, Russian artist Andris Liepa has built an exceptional team: 'The Golden Cockerel' is not just an opera ballet restoration, but a powerful creative impulse of 'The Russian Seasons' projected into our time, a whole century later.
