Szymanowski Concert

Over het evenement

Karol Szymanowski (1882‐1937) is one of the most interesting composers of the first half of the 20th century and undoubtedly the greatest from Poland.

Following an early phase when he was influenced by other great European composers — Chopin, Scriabin, Wagner and Richard Strauss, as well as Debussy and Ravel — he travelled through Europe and Africa and developed a fascination for the Mediterranean and Oriental cultures.

Polish folklore was another of his sources of inspiration. His finest works include the opera Król Roger (1924), which is being staged this season at the Liceu, and the two works we will be hearing in this concert.  His Third Symphony, opus 27, subtitled Song of the Night, dates from the years 1914‐1916.

Experience these fascinating works, performed under the baton of world‐famous conductor Josep Pons in Barcelona's Gran Teatre del Liceu.
