Nijinsky−Elo−Inger: Finnish National Opera Ballet

Over het evenement

This triple bill brings together three highly popular productions in a new combination: Le sacre du printemps by Vaslav Nijinsky, Double Evil by Jorma Elo and Walking Mad by Johan Inger with the Finnish National Ballet.

Le sacre du printemps, a creation of the young Vaslav Nijinsky, scandalised Paris at its premiere a century ago: audiences were not prepared for Nijinsky's modern movement language or Stravinsky's complex music. Although the music went on to become a modern classic, the choreography was lost; it was not until 1987 that the original production was reconstructed. In March 1994, the Finnish National Ballet became the third company in the world to perform this revival production of one of the milestones in the history of dance.

Double Evil by Jorma Elo received its first performance in Finland in spring 2012. The music in this production is Romantic Martynov and manic Glass, fuelling a choreography drawing on Hollywood crime films of past decades.

Walking Mad by Johan Inger brings a smile to the viewer's lips time and time again. Illustrating human relationships with humorous twists and turns, the choreography even makes use of the inventive set design.
