Kalîla wa Dimna: Festival d'Aix‐en‐Provence
Over het evenement
In a staging by Olivier Letellier, the Festival d’Aix‐en‐Provence introduces the world premiere of Moneim Adwan's opera, a work that showcases all the musicality of the Arabic language.
Palestinian composer Moneim Adwan has been in residence at the Festival d'Aix since 2009. His opera, "Kalîla wa Dimna", is based on the eighth century classic of the same name by Ibn Al‐Muqaffa. The story treads a fine line between human and animal, fable and tragedy, Arabic and French, Western form and Eastern music, to tell a tale of idealism crushed by ambition.
Performance in Arabic and French with French, Arabic and English surtitles
