Jean Rondeau plays Scarlatti

Over het evenement

Enjoy the harpsichordist Jean Rondeau in masterworks of Scarlatti in the beautiful Salle Cortot in Paris.

Irish organist Thomas Roseingrave heard Domenico Scarlatti touch the harpsichord at an evening in Venice. He confided that he had 'the impression that ten thousand demons were in front of the instrument'. Scarlatti was one of the greatest virtuosos of his time and his music certainly contains fulgurances whose effect one can imagine without difficulty. After having magnified Bach's music and then imposed his label in the French repertoire, Jean Rondeau approaches, with Scarlatti, one of his favourite composers: the French harpsichordist will certainly deploy, in addition to a breathtaking instrumental mastery, his exhilarating rhythmic freedom as well as his infinite poetic fantasy.

Truly Inspiring Performance by Jean Rondeau. A master who coaxed feeling and dynamics from a difficult instrument. Bravo!!
