Discover a work considered by many musical insiders to be the first great Scandinavian symphony. Herbert Blomstedt conducts the RCO in his countryman Franz Berwald's Symphony No. 4 'Sinfonie Naïve' .

Less well‐known than his later compatriots, such as Grieg, Nielsen, or Sibelius, Berwald was a successful German Romantic, akin to Mendelssohn or Schumann. In the second part of the programm you can look forward to Bruckner's 'Romantic' Symphony No. 4.
