Il Pomo d'Oro & Ann Hallenberg: Carnevale 1729 Tickets

イベント情報

Mezzo‐soprano Ann Hallenberg offers an evening of Baroque arias at the Palais des Beaux‐Arts in Brussels, with the ensemble Il Pomo d’Oro under the direction of Zefira Valova.

The Carnival of Venice in 1729 was quite unlike any other. Over a period of two months, opera houses engaged in a frenzied competition, booking the most famous singers of the day, including the legendary castrato Farinelli. Composers such as Nicolò Porpora, Leonardo Leo or Tomaso Albinoni competed with each other to create inventive, sublime and virtuoso compositions as a tribute to their voices. Three centuries later, the mezzo‐soprano Ann Hallenberg and the il pomo d’oro ensemble with its conductor Stefano Montanari take you back in time to this historic event, with a collection of vertiginous compositions. Their album Carnevale 1729 won several awards including BBC Magazine’s Recording of the Month, Gramophone Editor’s Choice, the Sunday Times’s Album of the Week… It’s going to be a very special programme!
