David Geringas & Ian Fountain: Vilnius Festival 2011

イベント情報

The Vilnius Festival presents a duo of wonderful chamber music players: David Geringas (cello) and Ian Fountain (piano) at this year's edition.

These musicians have been collaborating for several years in concerts and attracting the growing number of music lovers. “Sardonic humour and lavish tone, outbursts of anger and melodious emotions, sensuous sound and penetrating intellect,” wrote the Berliner Morgenpost after the duo’s performance in 2004.

For the audiences of the Vilnius Festival they offer a garland of romantic compositions, revealing the beauty of cello and piano combination through the delicate soundscapes of Chopin and Grieg. These romantic delicacies will be counterbalanced by the world premiere of commentum, a piece for cello and piano written by Lithuanian composer Vykintas Baltakas especially for Geringas and Fountain.

Founded in 1997, the annual Vilnius Festival is one of the most prestigious, solid and versatile musical events in Lithuania. With primary interest in presenting classical music, performed by the established soloists, ensembles and symphony orchestras from all over the world, it also promotes contemporary Lithuanian music by commissioning new large‐scale works, and offers a platform for jazz and musical theatre.
