Ravel’s scintillating G Major Piano Concerto finds its most celebrated exponent in the legendary Martha Argerich; her electrifying performances with Charles Dutoit often prompting audiences to demand an encore of the rousing final movement. Sibelius assembled his uplifting Karelia Suite from a longer set of musical tableaux depicting significant moments in Finnish history. The original work was an enormous success and the joyous suite remains a concert hall favourite. Maestro Dutoit concludes this feast of orchestral showpieces with Rimsky‐Korsakov’s luscious re‐telling of tales from The Arabian Nights.
