Iván Fischer: The Red Heifer

Music Director Iván Fischer conducts the German Premiere of his own opera 'Die Rote Färse' (The Red Heifer), which blends Hungarian folklore, Jewish songs, jazz and opera.

The plot of the opera explores the 19th century 'Tiszaeslár' affair, in which an alleged ritual murder took place that was firmly anchored in Hungarian‐Jewish history and adapted by many artists and writers.

Comic‐lyric opera in one act (50 mins — no interval).
Sung in Hungarian with German supertitles.
