第二次世界大戦後の時代を象徴する対照的な影響力——アメリカとソビエト連邦——を凝縮したプログラム。二つの異なる世界観と表現が、ショスタコーヴィチの音楽、特に『ムツェンスク郡のマクベス夫人』に対するスターリン体制の不評への応答である第五交響曲に鮮やかに刻まれている。また、マッカーシズム下のアメリカで芸術的アイデンティティを模索したバーンスタインとバーバーの作品にも同様に表れている。音楽監督エマニュエル・チェクナヴォリアンの指揮により、プログラムはバーンスタインの『カンディード』序曲で幕を開け、アン・アキコ・マイヤーズをソリストに迎えたバーバーの『ヴァイオリン協奏曲 作品14』が披露される。

オーケストラ: Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi

Known colloquially as 'La Verdi', Milan's famed symphony orchestra was formed in the early 90s to supplement the city's already‐generous cultural offering. Making its home in Milan's Auditorio, La Verdi features among Europe's most respected and admired symphonic ensembles. Its first Musical Director, Ricardo Chailly, now holds the title of Conductor Laureate, while the Austrian conductor, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, a fast‐rising star in the orchestral firmament took over the role of Musical Director in 2024, following in the footsteps of several major names in the classical world. La Verdi welcomes a starry roster of soloists and guest conductors over the course of an extensive and varied annual season, and regularly features as guests of honour at important state occasions and international concert engagements.
