With the Laeiszhalle a dream of the Hamburg citizens became reality: Exclusively for the music that they appreciated and promoted, they had wished for a new performance space — one that would support the local tradition and receive guest artists from all over the world. By a generous donation of the shipowner Carl Laeisz and his wife Sophie, this wish was fulfilled.
