プッチーニの氷の姫君が求婚者たちの首を次々と奪う中、冷静さを保て！フランコ・ゼフィレッリによる豪華絢爛な演出が、プッチーニ晩年の傑作を古代北京の雰囲気に包み込み、ヴェローナ円形劇場を埋め尽くす。
「誰も眠るな」― 暗闇が古代円形劇場を包み、数千の蝋燭が灯される中、カラフの『誰も眠るな』というオペラで最も有名なアリアの言葉を借りれば、プッチーニの輝かしい楽譜に見合う魔法のような雰囲気が創り出される。
『トゥーランドット』はプッチーニ最後のオペラであり、1924年の死の時点で未完であった。 フランコ・アルファーノがプッチーニの草稿やスケッチをもとに完成させたが、他のバージョンが上演されることもある。『蝶々夫人』と同様に、作曲家は東洋的な音階を探求しており、音楽と筋書きの両方が、19世紀末から20世紀初頭の西欧を魅了したエキゾチズムへの持続的な関心を反映している。 物語はペルシャの『千夜一夜物語』に登場する冷酷無情なトゥーランドット姫の伝説に基づく。愛と喪失の悲劇は1926年ミラノで初演され、作曲家を称えて未完成版が上演された。
第一幕
中国・北京の紫禁城。絶世の美女ながら心は氷のように冷たい王女トゥーランドットは、求婚者たちに三つの謎を課す。正解できなければ死刑が待っている。失敗した王子の処刑が群衆の血を沸き立たせる。 群衆の中に、敗れたタタール王ティムールが立っている。老王は久しく会っていなかった息子、カラフ王子と再会する。カラフはトゥーランドットを一目見て恋に落ち、彼女の三つの謎を解くと誓う。ティムールの奴隷娘リウは彼の無謀な決意を止めようとするが、彼の決意は固まる。
第2幕
チュランドットが現れ、カラフに三つの謎を問う。カラフは見事に解く。チュランドットは激怒し、結婚を拒む。カラフは取引を提案する――夜明けまでに彼の名前を知れば、命を差し出すと。
第3幕
チュランドットは、謎の王子の名前が判明するまで誰も眠ることを許さないと命じる。 リウは捕らえられ拷問を受ける。 トゥーランドットはリューに、なぜ彼の名前を明かさないのか問いただす。リューはカラフへの愛が力となっていると答え、自ら命を絶つ。
トゥーランドットはカラフと対峙するため一人残る。カラフは自ら名前を明かす。夜明けと共に、トゥーランドットは勝利を宣言する。群衆に向かって告げる「彼の名前は…愛」。トゥーランドットとカラフは結婚する。

the voices of the characters are not loud enough sometimes, not the choirs. Music was perfect. The intermissions are not long enough for the huge public. Perhaps by 5 or 10 minutes more. Thank and congratulations

Einfach fantastisch. Sehr gute Organisation. Tolle Schow, Atmosphäre. Ich würde beim nächsten Mal preiswertere Sitze nehmen auf den Steinen und ein Kissen mitnehmen. Unsere Sitze waren super unbequem und eng.

Es war sehr schön , nur der Platz an den Klappstühlen ist für 2.5 stunden ein ne Zumutung! Für 100€ hätte ich etwas mehr platz erwartet

Fabulous venue. I went to Aida about thirty years ago in the cheap seats and returned with wife and daughter to the stalls for Turandot. More comfortable and even more soectacular. I hope it's less than thirty years for the next visit!

Es ist ein phantastisches Erlebnis. Atmosphäre in der Arena, das grandiose Bühnenbild mit einer Ausstattung, die begeistert Die Qualität der Solisten, vor allem auch des Chores und des Orchesters waren eine Freude. Alles in allem, sehr zu empfehlen!

spectacle grandiose, mise en scène superbe ! un seul bémol : dommage que les agents des arènes ne fassent pas respecter l interdiction de prendre des photos ou filmer pendant le spectacle. Nous avons été vraiment gênés pas la lumière des téléphones portables pendant le spectacle … certaines personnes préfèrent voir le spectacle à travers un écran …. c est dommage pour eux et gênant pour les autres …malgré tout , nous ne regrettons pas d'être venus d'Aix en Provence juste pour voir cet opéra!!!!
